Lori Boulay, MBA

Chief Financial Officer

I have been in the accounting world for 25+ years mostly in healthcare finance and management. I have been teaching introductory and graduate level accounting courses since 1989. Today, I teach primarily for St. Joseph's College, Standish, Maine and Southern New Hampshire University, Brunswick, Maine. My philosophy of teaching is that I believe all my students are going to be presidents of companies, members of boards or business owners, so they must be able to ask the right questions at the right time. They do not need to do the detail accounting work, but must understand why there is no cash or why they cannot give raises this year.  I bring real-world examples into the classroom and onto paper.

I have worked my way up from being a "gopher” on weekends and vacations at a hospital while in high school and college to a Chief Financial Officer of a small hospital and here at Strategic Talent Management (STM). I have worked in a Home Care agency and successfully helped merge them with an area hospital. I enjoy going into financially troubled places and fixing them. I love the challenge and the crisis management, but more importantly, I love the idea that I was able to be part of keeping people’s jobs and the service for customers and patients.  I have been involved setting up a non-profit corporation, the goal of which was to create free seminars for Certified Nursing Assistants to manage the stress in their environments. I was able to obtain over $15,000 for seminars. I am currently a Financial Management Consultant with STM.  For example, I am able to go into different companies to act as their controller and work on their accounts receivable and other projects, manage cash flow, convert computer systems and other projects that help clients get back on track and achieve their financial targets.
